We have have compiled a list of resources to assist you in your state and national level advocacy efforts. Resources include sites with data on children and youth, information on the legislative process and up-to-date research on youth issues. For a list resources click here.
Advocacy Guides
We have also developed a "TNOYS Membership Legislative Advocacy Guide" that includes tips and tools for legislative advocacy and lobbying. The guide is for our members only, and it is specifically designed for those who work in the youth services field. If you are a member and you would like your free copy, please let us know.
In addition, our "We Want Change" advocacy and activism guide is geared specifically to youth, and it is available through our Youth in Action program.
2009 Coalition Group Materials
TNOYS is actively involved in several advocacy coalition groups, through which we collaborate with other child and youth serving organizations to promote a public policy agenda that prioritizes Texas' youth and families! Coalition materials for the 82nd Texas Legislative Session are coming soon!
Several of these coalitions have adopted shared legislative agendas. These coalitions include:
